Pruning Guide

A common question we get- especially in the spring and fall- is "when can I prune my tree/shrub" or "how do I prune my tree/shrub?" The following is the basic information you will need for when you prune your trees and shrubs:

-Fall time is when you want to prune for control

- Follow the "3 D's" rule: Dead, Damaged, and Diseased. You can prune these off all season long

- Do not cut more than 1" for larger branches

-There are rules for pruning that are specific to some varieties. For example, when pruning maple, birch, or fruit trees, it must be during the months when the tree is frozen. Give us a call or come talk to us about pruning your trees and shrubs.
