Garden Soil

Top soil is the uppermost layer of soil on the ground. It has the highest concentration of organic matter and microorganisms and is where most of the Earth's biological soil activity occurs. Topsoil is composed of mineral particles, organic matter, water, and air.

When you build a new garden, or plant a new tree, fresh top soil is essential for plant growth.

Our Top Soil is a 4-way mix, consisting of 40% soil, 40% peat moss, 10% sand and 10% manure.  This mix is perfectly versatile, making it appropriate to use in the garden, for planting trees and top-dressing lawns. 

The dense soil offers plants nutrients, which is boosted by the compost for extra nutrients. Peat moss keeps the mixture light, and sand helps provide proper drainage.

The compost that is mixed in is treated to eliminate pests and weed seeds. Top soil itself is never sterile nor weed free however, and nor would you want it to be, as it is an important living part of the ecosystem.
